Oscar Nomiation for Olive!

The Incredible Story of my Great Grandmother Olive
Directed by 2009 graduate Alberto Rodriguez has been nominated for the Best Honorary Foreign Film Award, in the Annual Student Academy Awards competition. This is the sixth nomination in the departments history. Congratulations to Alberto and his team.

Bill's Visitors
directed by 2008 graduate Simon Deshon, has been awarded the Platinum Remi at the WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston.

Stand Up directed by 2008 Graduate Joseph Pierce has won the Canal+ Award at the Premier Plan Angers Film Festival.

Elephants directed by 2008 graduate Sally Pearce has won the
Best Short Film Award at BAFTA CYMRU and the Out of Sight Award from the Fresh Film festival of Wales.

Mummy's Boy directed by 2008 Graduate Chris Gooch has won the Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing in a Student Film in Los Angeles.

Five go mad in Brazil

Bill's Visitors directed by Simon Deshon, Cherry On The Cake directed by Hyebin Lee, The Incredible Story Of My Great Grandmother Olive directed by Alberto Rodriguez, Today Only directed by Toby Jackman, and Yellow Belly End directed by Philip Bacon, have all been selected for the Anima Mundi International Animation Film Festival. The films will be screened first in Rio de Janeiro and then afterwards, in São Paulo. Congratulations to all of the filmmakers and their teams !

Cherry on the Cake
directed by Hye Bin Lee has been selected for the Shanghai International Film Festival. This screening will be the world premiere.

ON/OFF
(right) a first year film directed by Second Year Avgousta Zourelidi has been selected for the Three Minute Quickie Competition at the International Short Film Festival Hamburg.

Dog's Day Afternoon a first year film directed by Second Year Avgousta Zourelidi has been selected for the Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival.

Pachyderm Sea a first year film directed by 2009 graduate Helen Piercy has been selected for Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival.

Elephants directed by 2008 graduate Sally Pearce has been selected for: Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Festival, Oberhausen International Film Festival, Atens Animfest, Seattle International Film Festival, London Independent Film Festival, International Film Festival for Youth and Children NUEVA MIRADA, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and The Shanghai International Film Festival.

Joyets (right) directed by 2nd Year Magda Osinska, has been selected by the Royal Festival Hall to be shown with the Oscar nominated Peter and the Wolf on 8th May supported by a live orchestra. Joyets was Magda's application Film which she made in Poland and later contributions to the film were made by various members of the 2nd year.

Life After School: Recent Graduate work


2009 graduate Helen Piercy
completed a short animated series commissioned for PITCH, a company providing subscription based mobile phone content.
The series called Sawdust is about a hamster who, after a traumatic experience, becomes the evil HamSaw and proceeds to wreak havock on his fellow rodents in a blood-soaked orgy of sick depravity.
"Time to play? Mmwah-ha-ha-haaaa!"

Living the Dream(works)
In 2006, 2005 Graduate Sharon Colman landed her
dream Job
at DREAMWORKS Animation Studios in Los Angeles USA.
She works in the story department and recent projects include 'How to Train your Dragon'. Due for release in 2009, the son of a Viking trains his scrawny, toothless dragon to be a brave hero. Based on the children's book of the same name by Cressida Cowell. Sharon Is currently working on an adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Diggers.
