Sarah Cox - Tutor
I am co-director of a film and animation production
company with Sally Arthur called 'Arthur Cox'. We have directed
commercials for Dasani (LoweAlice) and Oscillo (Jump) in France
using an illustrative blend of Live Action and animation.
We have also directed the opening and closing sequences for
the animated trilogy 'Wilde Stories' with Lupus Productions,
due to be screened on Channel 4 over Christmas 2003.
Previously
at Picasso Pictures I directed commercials including Sanatogen,
Boots No: 7 (which won 2 silver Creative Circle awards) and
a seven spot campaign for Avaya Communications.
1999-2000 I worked at the Savannah College of Art and Design
in the US as a professor and ultimately Track Leader for the
2D track within the Computer Arts department.
As a filmmaker I have made 2 films for the Arts Council under
the 'ANIMATE' scheme.
Plain Pleasures, commissioned by Channel 4 in 2000, was received well commercially and people began to ask for more of the same. Sarah and sally set up Arthur Cox in order to produce the Wilde Stories; sequences of graphically treated live action. Meanwhile Plain Pleasures was screened in Annecy and attracted attention there. This led to several commercials for the French Market. Sarah has since directed another animated film commissioned by S4C, Heavy Pockets which is BAFTA Nominated 2005. Sally's latest film Perfect (funded by the MESH scheme for Channel 4) was premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2004.
'3 Ways to Go' 1997 won best film under 10 minutes
at the British Animation Awards and was screened at Annecy,
Fantoche, Sienna, Matiba and Stuttgart film festivals. It
was also one of the 'Timeless' selection of films at the 'Tougheye'
festival in Finland this year.
'Dear
Nelson' 2000 was screened in competition at Leipzig documentary
and short film festival and was also at 'Tougheye', Annecy
and the World Animation Festival.
'Plain Pleasures' 2001 was directly funded by Channel
4 and was screened in many competitive animation festivals
and won the Silver Dove at Leipzig 2002.
Arthur Cox is currently based in Bristol where they were joined by ex-Aardman Producer Katie Daniels.
