The Animation Department of the National Film and Television School is proud to announce that in 2009 it smashed its own awards total for the third year running by achieving a staggering 28 Awards.

Elephants directed by Sally Pearce has won:
Best Student Film Award at the Lola Kenya Screen Film Festival
AND the Best Children's Film Award at the Yosemite Film Festival
AND the Best Student Film at the Skyfest Film Festival North Carolina USA
AND
the Best Animation Award, Nickel International Film Festival, St John's, Newfoundland Canada
AND
Second Prize, Children's Jury Live Action Section, Chicago International Children's Film Festival AND Most creative Idea Award, Shanghai Film Festival
AND
Best Short Film Award at BAFTA CYMRU
AND The Out of Sight Award from the Fresh Film festival of Wales
AND Best Animation Award from the New Hampshire Film Festival
AND Runner up for Best Animation at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
AND Best Animated Short at the 2009 Kerry Film Festival
AND the Silver Elephant Award for Best Short Film from the International Children's Film Festival in Hyderabad, India.

Yellow Belly End
directed by Philip Bacon has won the
Theatre Optique Special Jury Prize at the Fresh Film Festival, Karlovy Vary in Prague
AND Best Animation at the Filmini International Short Film Festival. Sofia, Bulgaria.

directed by HyeBin Lee has won:
Best Animation at the Shanghai International Film Festival where it made its world premiere!
AND
The Gold Plaque for Best Student Short Film from the Chicago International Film Festival.
AND The NAHEMI / Kodak Prize for Creative Filmmaking at the Encounters Film Festival, Bristol.

The Incredible Story of my Great Grandmother Olive
Directed by 2009 graduate Alberto Rodriguez rceived a nomination for the Best Honorary Foreign Film Award, in the Annual Student Academy Awards competition. This is the sixth nomination in the departments history.
Olive has also won second prize in the Best Student Animation Palm Springs International ShortFest
AND the inaugural Best Kids' Film Award (Children's Jury) Fantoche International Film Festival
AND The Children's Audience Award at the Fantoche International Film Festival Switzerland.
AND The British Council “Entente Cordiale” Award at the Dinard Film Festival

Bill's Visitors directed by Simon Deshon, has won:
The Platinum Remi at the WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston
AND Best School Animation Prize at the Córdoba International Animation Festival

Stand Up directed by Joseph Pierce has won the Canal+ Award at the Angers Film Festival
AND the Jury Award at the London International Animation Festival
AND Best International short animation at the Curtocircuito Film Festival Spain


Mummy's Boy directed by Chris Gooch has won the Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing in a Student Film in Los Angeles.
