Toby
Penrose first made films at the age of nine, using his father's
8mm camera to make pixillated and animation films. After a
period of teaching Philosophy and studying Art, he wrote a
number of short scripts and made several experimental films
and videos.
Toby joined the NFTS Animation Direction course in September
1995 and has made four films at the School. The Piano Man
is his graduation film.
He is particularly interested in exploring new styles of film
making - current emphasis on space and atmosphere - and is
now developing some more short pieces and a live action feature.
